Dog Tags Urge Pardon For Ramos, Compeon

Rich Soargel, a San Diego business owner and regular listener to The Rick Amato Show has been featured this week in several media interviews.

Through his sportswear and emblem company, Soergel has launched a new website to urge pardons for former U.S. Border Patrol agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean, who were imprisoned in 2006 for firing their guns at a fleeing drug smuggler, and to raise funds for their families.

"I have created a grass roots fundraising campaign to raise money for the Ramos and Compeon families by offering a special dog tag," Soargel said recently.

The product calls for freedom for the agents on the front side, and on the back, has the telephone number for the White House.

Soergel came up with the idea after reading a Townhall.com article written by Rick Amato.

Writing To PFC Clagett

Imprisoned American soldier PFC Corey Clagett is appreciative for the letters of support he has been receiving from the people of San Diego.

Recently it was communicated to us that PFC Clagett is having a very difficult time hanging on, while serving time in solitary confinement.

It was also communicated to us that receiving your letters is what gives him the strength to get through each day.

Below is the address for writing to PFC Clagett:

PFC Corey Clagett/82477
1300 N. Warehouse Rd.
Ft. Leavenworth, KS 66027-230

Something Is Wrong Here!

An American soldier, PFC Corey Clagett, has been sentenced to 5 1/2 MONTHS of SOLITARY CONFINEMENT...FOR THE CRIME OF SPEAKING TO ME ON THE TELEPHONE, FROM MILITARY PRISON!

The call had been pre-approved by the proper authorities. The soldier follows military orders- again- and gets punished- again! (He is serving a prison sentence for doing his job in Iraq).

It should be pointed out that PFC Clagett NEVER SPOKE ON THE RADIO. He simply spoke to me on a cell phone, while I passed along his comments to my radio audience.

PFC Clagett comments included him thanking the people of San Diego for both their financial and emotional support. The soldier also said he looked forward to getting his name cleared, so that he could 're-enlist and continue a career in the military'.

Something is terribly wrong here!...and what is wrong is our military justice system.

As bad as this story is...you just know it is not the exception...we didn't just happen to stumble upon the needle in the haystack... (see Pendleton 8!).

The military justice system is clearly not adequately equipped to handle allegations of crime in today's era.

Where are the politicians (John Murtha aside)? Congressman Duncan Hunter wants to be the next Commander In Chief. A great ally of the military, where has been his outrage? Congressman Hunter has been very vocal about the injustice of Ramos and Compeon (rightfully so) where is that same concern and outrage?

The military justice systems needs to be re-tooled and more realistically reflect the realities of sending young American men and women off to war.

But first we must get PFC Clagett out of solitary confinement.
