Allegations Of A UN Run Amok Plus Pendleton 8 Coverage On Rick Amato Today

To most UN skeptics stories of corruption, arrogance and money grabs come as little surprise.  But my guest today says “you have no idea what lengths UN bureaucrats will go to secure more power for themselves, and the precedents those actions have put in place”. He is Nathan Tabor best selling author of the book, THE BEAST ON THE EAST RIVER, The UN Threat to America’s Sovereignty and Security.

Plus my opinion and analyses on the latest developments in the continuing Pendleton 8 saga.

The Rick Amato Show, Real People… Real Issues… In Real Time.

Why Darfur Matters

This past weekend on my radio show my special guest was David Nolan, a New York City based CEO who has taken a special interest in the tragedies and horrors currently being committed in the Sudanese region of Darfur.

Nolan, who recently formed an international humanitarian organization (website under construction) is on a mission to raise global awareness of the atrocities taking place in Darfur...and to find a non-military solution.

In the past three years over 300,000 innocent civilians have been murdered. Countless others have been raped and tortured... forcing some 2.5 million people to be displaced from their homes.

Darfur matters for several reasons. First, there is the obvious reason of human tragedy and innocent people in desperate need of help from the outside world.

Beyond that, it gives the world a glimpse of what life looks like under a Fundamentalist-Islamic government. Further, Nolan fears that the Fundamentalist-Islamic government which rules Darfur is in danger of expanding in to it's neighboring moderate Islamic states.

Nolan's vision is to raise awareness in America and around the world, and to create a  political atmosphere in which the moderate Islamic states and their leaders can take the lead in putting an end to Darfur.

Put differently...An Islamic solution to an Islamic problem. One which is non-military and an opportunity for The West to demonstrate a gesture which will help win the hearts and minds of the moderate Islamic world. All necessary ingredients in winning the war on terror.

The Morning After...

The Morning After…

…With the dems taking control of the house, and the senate teetering that direction pending Virginia…California poses some interesting after thoughts…

….The Republicans actually faired quite well  in The Golden State despite the national trend. The Governator won in a landslide, as did San Diego County Republicans Duncan Hunter and Darrell Issa. Brian Bilbray- whose easy victory I forecasted yesterday despite tight polling numbers- defeated his opponent by the largest margin of victory of his political career.

Interestingly, Bilbray never swayed from his message of his support  of the war in Iraq, while his opponent made the war her #1 campaign issue.  The results were just the opposite of what occurred nationally.

Keep a watchful eye on potential presidential candidate Duncan Hunter. Not well known outside of San Diego or Washington he runs to the right of  John McCain on key issues ,such as pro-life, that play well to voters in early primary sates like Iowa.  Hunter is a Viet Nam vet and the former chairman of the House Armed Services Committee.

Finally…not only is Nancy Pelosi the first woman in U.S. history to hold the post of Speaker of the House, she is also the first Italian-American to do so.

Election Day!

Election day is finally here and while the nation is abuzz with it’s possible ramifications….I do not expect any surprises here locally in San Diego County.

The polls, once again, show the Bilbray -Busby race to be close…I expect Bilbray to win comfortably…along with all other local incumbents.

Later today I am scheduled to sit down one on one with Congressman Duncan Hunter in what will be his first interview since announcing his interest in exploring a run at the White House in ’08. It is part of a piece I am writing for The Washington Times.

…Also, while my attention and time spent on reporting on the Pendleton 8 has slowed up a bit…I have not abandoned it as some have inquired. I will be providing future Pendleton 8 updates as the story dictates.
